A Model of Goal Dynamics in Organizations: Goal Setting, Goal Commitment, Training and Management by Objectives

The purpose of the present work is to build a suitable system dynamics model for goal dynamics in organizations, as proposed by Barlas & Yasarcan (2008). The proposed model does not bear any ambition of being exhaustive: the main objective of this paper is to propose a model of goal dynamics in which Goal Setting, Management by Objectives and Training are viewed as human resource practices able to enhance workers’ goal commitment, and therefore, improve organizational performance. A causal loop and a quantitative model of goal dynamics in organizations are described. A base run and 4 different scenarios are provided. The objective of this PhD thesis was the development of fast and sensitive methods for the characterization of vegetable oils according to their botanical origin, and for the characterization and authentication of olive oils in relation to their quality, genetic variety and geographical origin. For this purpose, oils selected considering each and every one of the factors discussed in the introduction section will be used.

The goal of this study is to explain the complex effect of management by objective practices on employees' innovative behavior. Instead of considering individual goal orientation and/or formal creativeness-related goal assignment (as in the recent literature), the focus of this paper is on exploring whether the official adoption of management by objective practices may foster employee innovative behavior. “Bull by the Horns” -project initiated landscape management and promoted biodiversity associated with diminishing High Nature Value farmland habitats in Finland. A specific focus was on grazed semi-natural grasslands and wood-pastures which are collectively referred to as traditional rural biotopes (TRBs). Collaboration among project workers, non-farming landowners, and cattle owners reintroduced grazing to abandoned pastures, and management was financed through agri-environmental payments.
